I have loved watermelon ever since and I relish it whenever and wherever I can. Watermelon is my go-to summer refreshment and so easy to pair with different other tastes. For example, I love to toss a few dices of watermelon into a simple green salat. It’s just so tasty. I was first introduced to it when I was in Helsinki for summer vacation and ordered a simple salad. I’m not sure if this is a Finnish thing, but I always get some lettuce with some dices of fruit there. And it’s delicious!
A watermelon is so versatile. I relish it solo, sometimes I sprinkle some cinnamon on top. That brings out the flavors a lot more. Or I put some dices plus some sparkling water into my mixer. It’s a super refreshing drink and if you put it in the fridge for some hours before you enjoy it, it’s perfect. Sometimes I also add a small shot of vodka to it. THE best summer drink if you ask me but don’t overdo it with the vodka during a very hot day. It’s not good for your health. So better stick to sparkling water then.
I already mentioned that I love my watermelon together with some lettuce. But the best recipe for a really simple salad with watermelon is so much easier. I only add some feta cheese to the natural sweet melon dices and sprinkle some olive oil on top. That’s it, that’s the salad. I’m actually not sure if I should really call it “salad”. But to me, everything raw together in a bowl sprinkled with olive oil is a salad – right?!
